Idea Generation Technique and Development Process
This part is based on TASK 2 which is related to soundscape originated by using a (DAW pro tools 11), which later we have to present in our class during the Month of January.
The soundscape were to be around 2 minutes long with at least 10 different sounds and then they have to be edited and merged together, for example, the sound of thunder which is one soundscape and the next sound might be cars passing by, which is the second soundscape then we have to merge these two sounds in order to become one proper 2 minutes soundscape.
Our Task was to create 1 soundscape related to beach noise and the other one was Traffic noise.
The Idea generation for my Soundscape related to beach noise started by first we had to look for certain sounds either recorded or maybe downloaded or even recorded by the use of a pocket recorder and than we had to choose the appropriate ones. In my case I found the right material in the folder called SONY FX which was created by our Lecturer filled with hundreds of sounds created by the students at my school.
My ideal soundscape came just from my mind, maybe from past experience when used to go for a day at the beach which basically started by the sound of waves crashing on the sand, then a bird came flying by, and later you can hear some children playing around, while listening to a small dog barking on the sand maybe while left alone on the beach while the owner is taking a dip in the water, few seconds later a van came by and then you can also hear people playing some kind of sports since at one moment you can hear people clapping and the referee whistle his whistle.
The Development process was all done by the use of a Digital work station, Pro Tools 11, which is quite easy to use after some while.
In the image below one can see the software which I was using, as you can see there is 10 track on each other all colored differently from the other so as to know which one is one.
In this next Image, my soundscape related to the beach noise was nearly finished, but later the teacher checked my work to make sure that at least it is a pass. as you can see in this image under the green track one can see a drawing shape of a line, that is called the "PAN", which basically makes that specific sound in this case for track 4 which is the green one to pass from left to right, for example if it was a van instead of leaving the sound coming from the center the sound instead comes from the left to right or viza-versa to give that realism feeling.
In this image below one can see the file destination of where the other sounds were kept, this is where we checked and previewed all those hundreds of track and then inserted into the software Pro tools 11.
In order to create the soundscape in a one single file, we had to save the whole file which is basic knowledge, but than we had to make sure that the file is bounced to a CD format which then makes all the tracks into one file, which can be opened by Media Player, VLC , I-Tunes and many more.
In this video you can see a video tutorial of how to use Pro Tools 11.
